BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPOINT LISA HOPPER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF NEWLY NAMED ARIZONA HEROES’ MEMORIAL

Oro Valley, Arizona Jan. 24th 2022 -- The Board of Directors is excited to announce the newly appointed Executive Director, Lisa M. Hopper, effective January 6, 2022. In this new role, Hopper is responsible for day-to-day operations along with fundraising to ensure the building of Memorial starting in 2022. The Memorial is a nonprofit living memorial that will sit on 2.5 acres of land here in Arizona in full view of the Catalina Mountain’s. It will be a destination place for education, history and reflection. Since its inception in 2016, The Memorial vision has facilitated and expanded the foundation of it mission to honor Active Military, Veterans, First Responders, Healthcare providers.
Dick Eggerding, Chairmen of the Board of Directors shared, "We believe she is the right leader to lay the foundation for our future generations in years to come and help get us to the finish line in increasing our gifts to raise the Memorial. We are also in the process of changing the name to from Southern Arizona Veterans & First Responders Living Memorial to ARIZONA HEROES’ MEMORIAL to reflect the inclusion of healthcare workers. I personally look forward to working with Lisa during her transition as well as throughout my tenure as Board Chair."
Hopper has most recently served as an account executive for Times Publications and was the founder & executive director of World Care International Humanitarian Aid Organization, a nonprofit that created and managed non-emergent and disaster relief for local, national and international events since 1994. Her work with International Humanitarian Aid was recognized with hundreds of awards including presidential letters. During her reign Hopper raised over $125 million in funding and in kind. Prior to that, she held senior leadership roles in Washington D.C. and Tucson Arizona healthcare industry, serving in development and leadership roles for such organizations as George Washington University Medical Center and University of Arizona Medical Center. Hopper is a veteran and served in the U.S. Armed Services. She is also an author and artist. Lisa Hopper holds a B.S. in Radiology Administration and Physics from George Washington University.
Hopper said, “Having the honor of serving as the Executive Director is so much more than the culmination of my nonprofit leadership journey, it is a true full-circle moment for me as we begin to resurrect this one-of-a-kind Memorial in the state of Arizona to honor these amazing people of the past, present and future," Hopper says. "I am so excited to be a part of this important mission and to work with our staff, board, and partners to fulfill the building of this site that will bring education and reflection to hundreds of thousands of people around Arizona and the country.”
