Over 300 Attend Memorial's Milestone Celebration

A major milestone was accomplished with the groundbreaking ceremony held on February 28th 2023. Over 300 people attended with Spencer Construction and Parsons Steel leading the efforts. Dignitaries and representatives of the military, first responder, veteran and healthcare communities were all in attendance to enjoy the hour long presentation.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Richard Carmona, former Surgeon General and Honorary Chair of the Memorial Foundation, who spoke passionately of the shared courage and sacrifice that so many Americans have shown in their service to our country and communities, and how that service transcends idealogical and political boundaries.
The presentation concluded with ceremonial turning of the dirt by board members, local officials and key contributors to the project. It was an especially bright day for Dick Eggerding, who had just celebrated his 90th birthday the previous Saturday, and was surprised when the whole crowd sang him "Happy Birthday."
