Space Force to be included in memorial

On Nov. 28th, 2022, the Board of Directors approved the inclusion of Space Force in the Memorial. Space Force has a rich history dating back to 1945 but back in 1954, Western Development Division, under General Bernard Schriever was established as the first dedicated space organization within the Armed Forces. It is the world’s only independent space force. Schriever is known as the father of United States Space force and military space. Space Force first began conducting combat support operations in Vietnam and continued to provide satellite communications, weather, and navigation support during Falkland Wars in 1982 and Grenada invasion in 1983 amongst a few.
